—Quantum Potential

David Bohm was a brilliant quantum physicist who believed in a deeper reality beneath the quantum level, a subquantum field he called the Quantum Potential. Bohm believed that in this field everything in the universe is interconnected and knowledge of this interconnection is the pathway to peace. His work was so profound that the Dalai Lama referred to him as his science guru.

Imagine what our global community might accomplish if we look beyond the explicate order of everyday reality, where there seems to be only division and separateness, and instead experience the implicate order of the universe, the oneness present in everything. Shamans of the Andes have always known we are all connected and that believing we are separate from each other, the animals, the plants, and all of creation, is at the root of conflict and suffering.

We must think of ourselves as a tribe — as an international community that has come together with a common purpose and we know we all have to do it together. There is a link that happens, where the growth, my growth, depends on the others’ growth around us. We know we can no longer live with division and separateness. We see the possibility of a synergistic community but aren’t sure how to get there. We know we are facing a global crisis from climate change to species extinction, war, famine, epidemics and pandemics and we know we must take a step together towards a better destiny.

What dreams might we dream when we understand we are part of a destiny much greater than you or me and that each of us is the co-producer of a possible future for all of us? Perhaps then we could truly dream a sacred dream Knowing that our dreams create the reality around us, our children, and our communities now and in the future, might we leave behind dreams that are small and ego-centric and instead “craft a destiny infused with courage, and driven by vision, to bring light and peace to our world, and to find our part in the greater sacred dream of humanity.”

How might we go about crafting a sacred destiny for our international community, our tribe? The idea of cobbling together such a large destiny might seem overwhelming. One way is to imagine that you can see your neighbor on the other side of the globe, and you know that s/he is crafting a dream that includes a destiny for you and your community, the animals and plants and all that must be part of a sacred dream. Ask yourself what you wish your neighbor was including in the dream. What is important to you that your neighbor might not be aware of? What is in your neighbor’s dream that you want to co-create with him or her?

We all have our own piece of the puzzle and yet we all have overlapping concerns. Write down the destiny you created and share with someone outside your community. What is similar, what is different? And as you write and share, know that as you observe any part of this dream – the great matrix of energy – you are already changing reality!
